ALTHOUGH three men had been arrested following the shooting of a Van Riebeeck Park resident early this morning, they have not yet been linked to the armed robbery.
According to PHS COPS’ Kempton Park area manager, Carl Buys, PHS arrested three suspects shortly after the incident. They had been handed over to the police for questioning.
The 40-year old victim is still in ICU. “I have not been able to see him or his wife since this morning as she is with him,” Buys explained.

“My client has not been able to identify them as yet and I’m not sure if they are still in police custody.”
Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said investigations were continuing and cases of house robbery and attempted murder have been opened. At the time of publishing he could not give any information about the arrested men.
The father of two allegedly suffered damage to the nerves in his shoulders and has no feeling in one arm.
Buys said following investigations it had been discovered the suspects entered the home, which is in a boomed off area, through a sliding door window in the dining room.
“They forced it open with a sharp object and lifted the latch.”
“My client tried to run when he saw them and they chased him. We are still not sure but we suspect they shot him from behind,” Buys further explained.
A 9mm pistol was used to fire the shots.
Buys said it was in fact two cellphones and a laptop that were taken from the house.
“A toy gun was found behind the couch. It looks like a real gun. We think one suspect was armed while the other used the toy gun. He probably dropped it when they fled after the shots had been fired,” he added.
