A Chevrolet utility bakkie that was hijacked in Tembisa on Wednesday night last week was recovered the same night on Pretoria Road.
The suspect arrested in connection with its hijacking had stopped at a Shell garage to fill up the tank.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, members of Benoni Flying Squad received a tip-off at about 9.30pm about a hijack in Tembisa.
The flying squad finally managed to locate the car on Pretoria Road, where they searched the vehicle and recovered a 9mm pistol with 11 rounds, electrical appliances including a new iron, hot plate, blow dryers, microwaves and kettles.
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested and faces three charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen goods.
