East Rand Super Voices junior winner

She hails from Terenure and has been singing since the age of nine

RHANDZI Mathonsi, a 14-year-old Grade 8 pupil at St Christopher’s Academy in Norkem Park won the junior category of the East Rand Super Voices competition.

The finale was held at Presley’s in Boksburg in December.

According to her mother, Zoliswa, the teenager from Terenure started singing lessons at the age of nine.

“On August 16 last year she won the prelims at Prime Time Sports Bar in Kempton Park and went on to represent Kempton Park at the finals. There were nine girls from the ages of nine to 15 from around the East Rand,” she explained.

Rhandzi’s first song, Superheroes, was recorded with SAMA award winner for children’s songs, Graeme Sacks.

“She has released three singles and has worked with different producers in the music industry, including well-known producer duo Robbie Malinga and Mjakes.”
