“A 15-year-old girl arrived home from school to find a silver VW Golf parked in the driveway of her home with one male occupant. The girl contacted her father at work. He then notified the community patrollers to investigate,” said Norkem Park police spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.

“On arrival, the patrollers found that the car had already left with three suspects. They started looking for the vehicle and spotted it on Pretoria Road.”

Molokomme said the patrollers managed to arrest all three suspects. Police were summoned to the scene and after searching the suspects and the car, recovered a camera, cellphones, pik and hand gloves.

“The camera was identified as one taken during the break-in on Essenwood Street.”

“Following further investigations, police found one of the suspects was linked to other cases of housebreaking and theft at Midrand SAPS, theft at Boschkop SAPS and trespassing reported at Brooklyn SAPS,” Molokomme added.

Police confiscated the suspects’ cellphones and the car, a silver VW, for further investigation.

“We suspect this car has been used to terrorise the community around Norkem Park. We urge anyone who has been a victim where this car was involved, to come forward.”

The three suspects, aged between 29 and 41, are all from Mamelodi West and will face charges of housebreaking, theft and the possession of stolen property.
