EMPD recovers hijacked VW Polo in three hours

The hijacked silver VW Polo was tracked down to Inxuweni RDP Flats

A VW Polo, which was hijacked at gunpoint in Midrand on Monday night, was recovered in Tembisa three hours later.

Lt Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the EMPD’s Loss Control Unit was alerted around 10pm by a vehicle tracking company about a hijacked VW Polo. They responded swiftly by following the GPS coordinates which led to Tembisa.

The hijacked silver VW Polo was tracked down to Inxuweni RDP Flats.

An unknown number of suspects hijacked the vehicle around 8.30pm. The owner immediately activated the tracker system. The metro police recovered the vehicle intact at 11.10pm. Unfortunately, no arrests were made as the suspects apparently got cold feet and abandoned the vehicle, Kgasago said.
