INVESTIGATIONS by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) are underway following the arrest of an Ekurhuleni Metro Police officer on February 11 in connection with multiple rapes.
The 55-year-old major at the Loss Control Unit at the EMPD’s head office in Kempton Park, is accused of two counts of rape and kidnapping.
More charges may still be added, according to IPID acting national spokesperson, Robbie Raburabu.

“It is alleged that around June 2014 and February 2015, the officer raped two women, a 16-year-old teen and a 20-year-old woman in an open veld in Soweto in the Lawley and Lenasia vicinity,” Raburabu said in a statement.
The suspect also appeared in court last year for the rape of a nine-year-old girl.
In what seems to be a serial rapist case, IPID further alleges the metro cop has been raping minor girls in the area, paying them money to keep quiet.
The accused appeared in Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday for a formal bail application, which rolled over to Tuesday, when he was denied bail.
He will also appear in Palm Springs High Court on April 18 for the rape of the nine-year-old girl.
Investigations continue.
