NO damage was caused on Wednesday when lightning struck at Festival Mall in the late evening.

Jacques Coetzee captured the flash of electricity on his cell phone from his flat behind the mall.

The short clip starts off quietly. A few seconds into it, the video shows a bolt of lightning hitting the area around Festival Mall, before the storm erupts into loud thunder.

Marketing manager of Festival mall, Lee-Anne Leathley, confirmed the storm did not leave any damage to the property.

It was still quite a hair-raising sight to see, captured at just the right moment.
