Two males assailed a private security officer working for Hwibidu Security company on Friday night at about 10pm in Tembisa. The security officer was hijacked and had his service pistol taken after being dumped in Tembisa.
“The swift reaction of the EMPD Loss Control officer and the vehicle tracking company personnel resulted in the vehicle being recovered fourteen minutes later on Kgomotso Maredi street at Khatlamping section in Tembisa. Although the suspects are still at large, the law enforcers are working fervently around the clock to apprehend the suspects,” said EMPD spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago.
This hijacking of a security officer and the robbing of a firearm follows closely on a similar incident that took place in Tembisa of the BhekaniAbantu security company officer the night before in Olifantsfontein.
“In-depth investigations are underway in an effort to nip this type of a crime in the bud,” said Lt Col Kgasago.
