Drugs worth millions found in luggage at airport

Both consignments are in the custody of the South African Police Service

Drugs worth an estimated R2.5-million were seized at OR Tambo International Airport by SARS Customs officials at the weekend.

In the first of the two incidents, unaccompanied luggage from Lagos to Johannesburg was found to contain 6.5 kg of Crystal Methamphetamine worth R1 920 000.

In the second incident, unaccompanied luggage, also arriving from Lagos, was found to contain 2kg of cocaine worth R575 400.

Both consignments are in the custody of the South African Police Service for further investigation.
