URGENT tests were done on water in Kempton Park’s reservoirs last night after a worm was discovered in water in Mimosa Street in Birchleigh.
According to information Express received this morning the tests proved all the water was clean and there is no need for residents to worry.
It is not known which type of worm it was. Express is waiting for official comment from the metro.
In the meantime, this past week has been a frustrating one for many residents who had to cope without water for prolonged periods.
First, scheduled maintenance work went wrong on Monday night, leaving various suburbs without water. Then, just as those problems were sorted out, a pipe burst on Kerk Street on Thursday, causing further outages in several areas.
And today, the water woes continued with yet another burst pipe in Edleen in the vlei area along Besembos Street. Water supply had been restored by 11am.
Ward councillor Jaco Terblanche on Friday morning told Express the malfunctioning of pressure regulator valves seem to be causing the constant pipe bursts. These valves should increase or decrease the pressure in pipes according to the water demand. If the pressure is not decreased during times of low demand, it causes the pipe to burst.
Anyone still without water can contact Terblanche on 083-413-2420.
