Damage to water supply pipeline leaves Tembisans without water

Roving water tankers will be deployed to the affected sections.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) acknowledged the water interruption affecting residents of Tembisa.

“We are aware of the intermittent interruption of water supply.  This is due to the damage being caused on the water supply pipeline by contractors involved in construction work. In order to respond to damages immediately and therefore minimize the inconvenience of interruptions to customers, technicians have been deployed to the areas where construction is taking place,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe.
Sections of Tembisa which are affected by these interruptions include:
*Umthambeka
*Umfuyaneni
*Entshonalanga
*Umnonjaneni
*Moedi
*Esangweni
*Endayeni
*Katamping

“Roving water tankers will also be deployed to the affected sections to supply water for domestic purposes as and when the breakages occur. Currently, technicians are working at restoring supply to Moedi section as well as normalising the supply to Ililiba section which is experiencing low water pressure due an air block in the pipeline,” said Mr Gadebe.
