National news: Driver killed in freak Durban accident

A man was killed in a freak accident on Essex Terrace in Westville, Durban on Saturday afternoon.

A local resident was traveling in his car on Essex Terrace when a large tree fell on top of his Peugeot. It is believed tree fellers were cutting down trees on the side of the road when the incident occurred, ER24 said.

Paramedics from ER24 that arrived on the scene found the man still trapped inside of his vehicle. Sadly, there was nothing they could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

Police were called to the scene and cordoned off the areas to conduct an investigation into the matter.
