POLICE are investigating a case of business burglary after R87 000 worth of equipment and alcohol was stolen from a Pretoria Road bar on February 21.
According to the manager of Attiq Chill Bar, David Mangoale, they received a phone call from security on the Monday morning at about 8am to tell them the club had been burgled the previous night.
“When we got to the bar, we found that equipment had been stolen. Property taken included a music system, speakers and a 42-inch flat screen TV, all amounting to R80 000,” Mangoale said.

Alcohol worth about R7 000 was also taken.
The equipment was later recovered at a pawn shop near the Voortrekker Road Shoprite.
“We got a phone call from the police telling us to come identify the equipment they found at the pawn shop, and indeed it was. The guys at the pawn shop told us that someone had sold the stuff to them.”
The stolen liquor was not recovered.
Kempton police’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, confirmed that no arrests had been made yet.
In a separate incident on February 23, a 32-year-old suspect was arrested after being caught red-handed breaking into an optometry practice on Monument Road.
“It is alleged that the owner received an alarm alert from security, who rushed to the scene and managed to catch the suspect, who was still on the premises after breaking the door to gain entry,” Mtshali said.
Police were called and the suspect will appear in court on a charge of business burglary.
