Two women and boy (8) left traumatised after house robbery

The suspects snatched the child's from his mother’s arms and was locked in one of the bedrooms during the robbery.

At around 4.30am on March 3 at Tlamatlama Section in Tembisa, a family was robbed of electrical appliances, clothing and a Nissan Qashqai SUV. Preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects, one armed allegedly with an R5 rifle and his accomplices armed with iron bars, broke a window and cut the burglar-proofing to gain entry into the house.

“Fortunately, the two women and an eight-year-old boy were not harmed physically . The suspects snatched the child’s from his mother’s arms and was locked in one of the bedrooms during the robbery,” said Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago.

The vehicle was traced via a vehicle tracking system to an open veld in Clayville Ext.45 near the Midrand cemetery.

It was found abandoned. Although the suspects took two television sets, numerous items of clothing including shoes, a DSTV decoder, kitchen appliances and grocery items and one of the victim’s identity document from the house, only three pairs of shoes and the DSTV decoder were recovered in the abandoned Nissan Qashqai. It is suspected that some of the stolen items were transported in the suspects’ getaway vehicle. The recovered vehicle was found undamaged but with the key missing.

In-depth investigations are underway to track down the suspects responsible for this house robbery.
