A man and his wife were sleeping in their house in Ivory Park, Extension 7, when four suspects gained entry on Friday last week.
The Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the man tried to retrieve his licensed firearm from the safe.
“Before he could reach the safe, the suspects gained entry into the house. The suspects fired four shots at the victim, hitting him several times,” said W/O Sekgobela.
The four suspects stole various items from the house, including the victim’s firearm, before fleeing the scene.
“The victim was taken to hospital, where he is still in a stable condition. The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward,” said W/O Sekgobela.
