Cheeky thief arrested a third time in weeks

His two previous cases were struck off the roll due to insufficient evidence

CHEEKY thief Steven Nomabhunga has been keeping Kempton’s police officers very busy the past few weeks.

He stole not once, not twice but three times in less than a month.

Nomabhunga (32) of Ivory Park in Tembisa was arrested on February 24 for possession of copper cables and then four days later, on the 28th, again for being in possession of a stolen bicycle.

However, both cases were struck off the roll due to insufficient evidence and for further investigations.

Out on the street again, he did not change his antics. On March 10 he was caught with two camp chairs and a gas bottle which he allegedly stole from a house on Mulberry Street in the early hours of the morning.

According to the spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, Capt Jethro Mtshali, members of the community cornered Nomabhunga on the street at about 6am.

“It is alleged the owner of the house saw the suspect enter her home and screamed for help. Her cries were heard by community members, who then gave chase and managed to corner and catch him.”

He will appear in court on March 18.
