Locals graduate from learnership programmes
Aimed at different levels of management and chefs, 53 candidates successfully completed these 12-month developmental courses, registered with the CATHSSETA in 2015.
Several Tembisans were among the group of 50 staff members from Emperors Palace who recently graduated from learnership programmes.
Aimed at different levels of management and chefs, 53 candidates successfully completed these 12-month developmental courses, registered with the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) in 2015.
With their qualifications recently verified by CATHSSETA, the Learnership Class of 2014 graduated at a ceremony at Emperors Palace on March 2.
Among them were 17 junior and middle management staff members who graduated with a Further Education and Training Certificate in Generic Management L4, a qualification designed to enable learners to become competent in strategic planning, organising, leading, understanding and dealing with budgets and comprehending business ethics.
A further 14 senior to middle management employees obtained their Further Education and Training Certificate in Generic Management L5 which focused on enabling them (the learners) to become competent in management functions, financial management, relationship management, performance management, managing teams and organisational development.
The remainder of the Class of 2014 achieved National Certificates in Professional Cookery L4, which has set them on a path to becoming recognised chefs after learning more about food preparation, understanding menu planning, food costing and the dynamics of the industry.
To obtain these full qualifications, which are nationally recognised, the graduates had to work in their normal area of expertise but also attend theory training in a classroom for five days every second month as well as do practical assignments.
