Impala learner Liané Kilian qualifies for ATKV national finals

Liané Kilian qualified for the national finals for four consecutive years since 2023.

Laerskool Impala Grade Five learner Liané Kilian has once again been selected as a finalist in the prestigious ATKV National Public Speaking Competition, which takes place annually in August.

The competition attracts talented young speakers from across South Africa’s provinces, as well as Namibia, making it one of the largest Afrikaans public speaking competitions of its kind.

Kilian has now qualified for the national finals for four consecutive years since 2023, an achievement that reflects her dedication and passion for public speaking.

She has also been crowned the Gauteng East winner for the past three years.

The competition journey began with Round 1, which included 300 learners in Eastern Gauteng. Kilian progressed to the semi-finals, where 30 learners per grade competed.

Grades one to three competed in one category, grades four to five in another, and grades six to seven in a third. Through her talent and hard work, she advanced to Round 3, the finals.

Public speaking is one of Kilian’s greatest passions, and she believes her talent is a gift from God that will help her make a positive impact in the future.

“I am grateful for the talent God has given me and I enjoy every opportunity to share my voice and inspire others,” Kilian said.

Kilian’s family, school and community are incredibly proud of her achievements and have wished her well ahead of the national finals.
