Ivory Park SAPS hosts missing persons campaign
Ivory Park SAPS comunication officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said they hosted the awareness campaign after they noticed that there are continuously reported missing persons cases escalating in the station.

Ivory Park SAPS took to the streets on Thursday last week and hosted a door-to-door missing persons awareness campaign.
The missing persons campaign was held in the Tswelapele area and its shopping complex. Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said they hosted the awareness campaign after they noticed that reported missing persons cases were escalating.
“The police visited the community in order to give advice to parents and children’s caretakers. About 400 pamphlets were distributed to community members on how to maintain the safety of our children and that of adults,” added W/O Sekgobela.
Some of the tips were as follows:
- Teach children to know their parents’ telephone numbers, their street address and the police telephone numbers.
- Teach them to know that it is OK to say no when they are faced with difficult situations.
- Never accept lifts from strangers.
- Never approach a vehicle unless they are absolutely sure that they know the occupants.
Adults:
- Refuse to be tempted by scammers who approach you with promises of wonderful jobs or who make advances towards you that make you feel uncomfortable.
W/O Sekgobela added that members of the public were also advised to report their missing persons at the police station as soon as possible and not to wait for the 24-hour period.
