Ivory Park police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stabbing and killing a woman with a knife and a pair of scissors.
The incident occurred in Kaalfontein, Extension 5 near Ivory Park on Tuesday last week.
It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect went to Alexandra with their friends on Monday last week.
It is also thought the two came back together in the early hours of Tuesday.
Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the 27-year-old man and the deceased ended up at the suspect’s residence.
“The suspect alleged that there was no romantic relationship between them. They just knew each other. He claims after they had arrived at his place, the victim pulled out the knife and threatened him. She demanded his cellphone. He managed to grab the knife and stabbed her,” added W/O Sekgobela.
W/O Sekgobela said the suspect then took a pair of scissors and stabbed the victim.
“She sustained injuries. The police were later notified by the suspect’s sister, who was not there when the incident happened.
“When the police arrived at the scene, the deceased was found in the garage of the suspect’s house and was wrapped inside a carpet. The suspect was still in the house when he was arrested,” she said.
