SAPS looks for drugs at school

The purpose was to search for dagga, drugs and dangerous weapons.

Members from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department and the Ivory Park SAPS Youth Crime Prevention desk conducted a school search at Kaalfontein Secondary School on Thursday last week.

The Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the purpose was to search for dagga, drugs and dangerous weapons.

“The management at the school informed the police they were alerted about sweets containing the drug called tik,” said W/O Sekgobela.

According to the school’s management, most pupils are seen eating sweets but they are unsure if the sweets are ordinary sweets, or if they contain the drug.

“Nothing was confiscated except a box of matches, which was found abandoned next to one of the school classrooms,” said W/O Sekgobela.
