UPDATE: Motorcyclist on life-support after accident

Brake marks from his motorcycle of about 5m long are clearly visible on the road

THE 27-year-old Terenure resident, Jan Venter, who was involved in a motorcycle accident in Van Riebeeck Park on Wednesday morning, is still on life-support in Arwyp.

According to his father, Gert, his son’s nose, cheekbones and jaw have been crushed. He also suffered broken ribs and a broken arm.

“Doctors told us the next 24 hours would be crucial,” he said.

Venter senior visited the accident scene at the intersection of Drakensberg and De Wiekus streets, trying to figure out what happened.

Brake marks from his motorcycle of about 5m long are clearly visible on the road, he said.

“He was riding a big, heavy motorcycle and was certainly not speeding,” his dad said. “Because of the motorcycle’s weight it would be easy to flip the light car.”
