Another former mayor of the city has died

ANOTHER former mayor of Kempton Park City Council has died, only three days after the death of a colleague.

George Bester (87) died on Tuesday night. His death follows that of Dries Niemandt, also a former mayor, on Saturday.

Bester and his wife, Annetjie, lived in Kempton Park since 1958. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on October 10 last year.

Bester was mayor of Kempton Park in the 1970s. The couple stayed at Immergroen Old Age Home the past years.

He is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service for him will be held at the NG Church Kempton-Kruin on Fiskaal Street in Glen Marais on Tuesday at 10am.

He will be cremated.
