She was spotted by a member of AfriForum Kempton Park

A woman who tried to dump her rubbish next to Pretoria Road had to face the brunt of the law when she was spotted by a member of AfriForum Kempton Park.

Law enforcement was called and she was forced to pick up her rubbish and was fined R2 000.

Annelise de Vries, spokesman for the branch said the incident happened on April 5 between JJ Maritz Sandworks and Vlei Street. Jan Vermaak, head of safety of the branch, suspected trouble while on his way to Pretoria.

“I noticed from the corner of my eye there was something going on in the long grass next to the road. I stopped and called Dirk Venter, a member of the forum. On closer investigation it was observed a bakkie load full of rubbish was dumped illegally,” said Vermaak.

Leon Saaiman of Ekurhuleni Metro Police was notified immediately, after which metro police officers were dispatched to the scene.

The guilty party was instructed to load the building rubbish onto the bakkie again, requested to hand over her identity document as well as her driver’s licence to the traffic officers and was subsequently imposed with a fine of R2 000.

AfriForum appeal to residents to become involved at the local branch by sending an SMS with their name to 45342 (cost R1).
