Murder suspect hands himself over to police

Two people were shot and injured and a third was shot and killed.

A 39 year-old male suspect from Winnie Mandela Zone 11 was arrested for murder in the early hours of Friday last week.
Constable Patricia Mgijima said it was alleged by the witnesses who were with the deceased that while they were patrolling the area, they noticed people at a certain house and thought they wanted to break into the car that was parked in one of the yards.
“They went closer to check but they could no longer see the movement.
“As they were leaving the yard, they heard gunshots and started running and shouting that they were community patrollers. Two people were shot and injured and a third was shot and killed,” said Constable Mgijima.
Police were alerted and they quickly responded.
“The suspected handed himself to the police, he was arrested and he was detained at Tembisa Police Station,” said Constable.
The suspect appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court where the case was postponed to April 18 for formal bail application.
