One killed as taxi rolls to avoid head-on collision

The remaining 12 patients sustained minor to serious injuries

A woman has been killed and 14 others have been injured after the taxi they were travelling in lost control and rolled down an embankment on the corner of Dane and Allandale Road this morning.

Max Cohen, spokesman for Emer-G-Med, said paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the crash at about 7am. On arrival paramedics found the badly damaged taxi lying in an open field, with passengers strewn across the area, some of which had been ejected from the vehicle.

It’s believed the taxi was overtaking another vehicle and to avoid a head-on collision, the driver swerved off the road, losing control and rolling multiple times down the embankment. Unfortunately one of the passengers was found to have already succumbed to her injuries.
