Taxi accident leaves one dead, four critical

The intersection of Modderfontein and Dane Road in Rabie Ridge was temporally closed this morning to allow a helicopter to land.

Netcare Limited’s media liaison officer, Ms Athlenda Mathe, said this followed a taxi collision that left one person dead, four in a critical condition and 10 with serious injuries.

She said the accident happened shortly after 7am on Dane Road, a few metres from the intersection.

“A helicopter was dispatched to air-lift the two patients who were in a critical condition. They were taken to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. The others were taken to different local hospitals,” said Ms Mathe.
