Motorcyclist put in traction after accident
The personnel only attended to his open wound four days after the accident
MOTORCYCLE accident victim and Nimrod Park resident, Anton Botha (23), will only undergo reconstructive surgery on his femur, knee and ankle in three weeks time at Tembisa Hospital.
The 12-hour surgery that Botha was scheduled for on Thursday morning was rescheduled after doctors only cleaned and stitched up all his wounds to prevent infection.
“I am just relieved that he has been attended to and that the danger of losing his leg is no longer a fear,” said his father, Gerhard.
Botha is in traction at the moment with a pin through his calve muscle to straighten out the leg.
“He is in much pain at this stage but he is pulling through,” said Botha’s father.
Botha was involved in a motorcycle accident on the corner of Highveld Road and Lily Street on Friday morning, last week. He was on his way to a store to buy painkillers when the accident happened.
