T-Shad elects new board

T-SHAD gets a new board of directors.

New members of the Tembisa Self Help Association for the Disabled’s (T-Shad) board of directors were introduced to the community and stakeholders on April 9.

The members were presented following the election at the annual general meeting held in February.

Centre manager Mr Calvin Stemela said the centre was run by an interim management team from October 2014 to March 2015.

“In April 2015, Ithuseng Centre took over the reins mentoring T-SHAD until we elected our new board,” he said.

“I feel positive with regards to the challenges faced by the organisation currently and also bringing in new initiatives to deal with the current challenges.

“All of this can’t be done alone, we will work together as board members, management and beneficiaries,” said the chairperson of the new board, Mr David Bambata.

He said the new board’s intention is to leave a legacy and attract sponsors.

Mr Stemela said T-Shad is supported by the Department of Social Development.

“They helped us a lot from the time when we didn’t have a board. They saw us through the process until we elected this board,” said Mr Stemela.
