702 Walk the Talk is back: for what are you walking?
Entries have opened and will be capped at 50 000 walkers

The 2016 edition of the 702 Walk the Talk is back and after last year’s success, Radio 702 is again calling on entrants to walk for a cause, belief or charity, in the spirit of Lead SA.
Lead SA is a personal call to every individual to stand up, make a difference and do the right thing. It encourages everyone to take responsibility in making the world a better place, and Walk the Talk offers a platform for active citizens to share what they stand for.
Last year 50 000 walkers took to the streets to highlight worthy causes. This year 702 will again ask participants: “For what are you walking?”.
There will be 5km, 8km and 15km routes and all walks will start and finish at Marks Park Sports Club, in Emmarentia, on July 24, with staggered starts to accommodate the large numbers of walkers on each route.
“Radio 702 affords South Africans the opportunity to freely express their opinions and, this year, Walk the Talk will again provide that platform,” says 702 station manager Pheladi Gwangwa.
“In a year that has been marked by divisions, Walk the Talk offers an opportunity for social cohesion, as we all come together peacefully, to walk for causes close to our hearts and to learn about others and their causes.”
Participants are also encouraged to share their stories through the event’s official Facebook account – 702 Walk the Talk – and @WalktheTalk_ on Twitter.
The event is hosted by the City of Joburg.
Entries have opened and will be capped at 50 000 walkers.
