He was transported by ambulance to Tembisa Hospital for urgent treatment.
A 25-year-old man is in a critical condition after he apparently jumped off a moving train near Birchleigh Railway Station earlier this afternoon.
Russel Meiring of ER24 said paramedics arrived at the station at shortly before 12.30pm and were lead to the tracks 100m away where they found the patient.
On assessment, paramedics found that the patient was in a critical condition, having sustained a serious head injury as well as multiple lacerations and abrasions over most of his body.
Paramedics began their treatment and provided the patient with advanced life support treatment. Once treated, he was transported by ambulance to Tembisa Hospital for urgent treatment.
It is unknown why the patient jumped from the train but local authorities were on scene for further investigations, Meiring said.
