Pedestrian, driver seriously injured in accident
Local authorities were on-scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision
A pedestrian and a motorist have been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a collision early Tuesday evening.
A car travelling at high speed allegedly hit a stationary car from behind, which then knocked down the pedestrian walking on the pavement.
According to EMER-G-MED, their paramedics and other services responded to reports of a pedestrian collision on André Greyvensteyn Road just after 5.30pm.
“It was reported that a vehicle was travelling at high speed when it rear ended a stationary car and then veered off the road – colliding with a pedestrian who was walking on the pavement,” EMER-G-MED’s Max Cohen said.
The pedestrian, as well as the driver of the stationary car, sustained serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support care.
“Once stabilised the patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment, both under the care of EMER-G-MED ALS (advanced life support) paramedics. Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.”
