Truck ploughs through three walls in Esther Park

The truck finally halted at a Sebenza police captain’s house on Parkland Drive

ON Saturday evening, at around 8pm a driver lost control of his truck and ploughed through the walls of three houses on Parkland Drive, Esther Park.

“It is alleged that the driver was going downhill at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the wall of a house on Parkland Drive. The driver tried turning the steering wheel and this was when the vehicle went through the walls of two more houses,” explained Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso.

Tsotsotso said the truck finally halted at a house owned by a Sebenza police captain who wished to remain anonymous.

A witness across the road from where the incident occurred said they heard the sound of a truck coming down the road at high speed and went out to investigate.

“Apparently the driver has been working for the trucking company for 15 years, so he’s experienced. We think the brakes failed. He was speeding,” she said.

Tsotsotso said no injuries were reported, only damaged walls.

A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened.
