Heavy traffic delays in Bredell due to roadworks
New “as and when” contractors have been appointed until the completion of this project, said the metro
KERRY Curtis is one of many motorists who have complained about the road works in Fourth Road and Dacosta Street, Bredell, which are causing heavy traffic delays.
“Why is council unable to complete projects in an efficient and timeous manner?” asked Curtis.
“It appears the project was to lay concrete blocks underground. The blocks sat for months and eventually some of them were completed. However, the entire intersection is now a gaping hole and you either have to use a temporary road or avoid this intersection. I wonder what the residents think of this eyesore.”
The metro said that, for the sake of traffic flow and safety, road closures had been effected.
“The contractor’s agreement/contract lapsed at the end of December 2015 and the construction of the storm water drain in Dacosta Road was not completed,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.
“For the sake of traffic flow and safety, road closures were effected at the corner of Dacosta and Sixth roads, and the corner of Dacosta and Fourth roads.
“However, new ‘as and when’ contractors have been appointed until the completion of this project.”
