Woman’s Sorrow
Taken from a wealthy background, Young – with a pleading face so round,
Grown and groomed to be a slave,
By a woman who has no sympathy to pave,
She has summoned you for her own gain,
Not seeing the pureness of your eyes that are filled with pain,
Oh woman of sorrow,
Why is your path so narrow?
You give your innocence,
But you don’t think it makes sense, The bruises that are scattered in your soul,
Make the weather in your life so foul,
What have you done to deserve such treatment?
What could be the reason of such a punishment?
Day after day, night after night you cry out for your father,
This pushes you to go on further,
Your African beauty has been seen by the viewer,
But yet the pieces of your puzzle have gotten fewer,
You feel like your face is pulling away,
Taking the nature of your reflection along the way,
Oh woman of sorrow,
Why isn’t there a life you can borrow?
Although you want to try,
The sharpness of the pain pushes you to cry,
Starvation has become a probability in your life,
As it has become a rife,
Your red scarf has become your refuge,
But yet it starts to pull away from you and it all begins to deluge,
Oh woman of sorrow,
How do you look at your tomorrow?
