Gambler gives his wife’s car to loan shark

The matter was mediated by the police

A gambling Ivory Park husband gave his wife’s car to a loan shark for R6 000, to satisfy his habit.

The man then disappeared for five days and five nights, from April 22-26.

Lieut Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the annoyed woman eventually opened a case of using a vehicle without the owner’s consent against her husband, at the Ivory Park Police Station.

A tracking company then traced the black Toyota Yaris to a house in Esselenpark.

The tracking company informed the metro police, who went to Esselen Park, where the car was found parked in the yard.

“The loan shark explained the ceding of the car to him by the gambling addict for R6 000,” Kgasago said.

The matter, which was mediated by the police, was resolved amicably, with the wife signing a promissory note to repay the R6 000 owed to the loan shark by her truant and irresponsible husband.

The vehicle was returned to the wife.
