Bumper to bumper moves into CBD – again

The special operation also focused on the illegal display of posters and illegal trading

AS a follow up to the operation conducted on Thursday, May 12, EMPD Kempton Precinct officers swooped on problematic areas in the central business district again on Monday in an earnest effort to rid locations invaded by vagrants.

“These vagrants proved to be a nuisance to both businesses and pedestrians and an eyesore to the streets, said Lt Col Wilfred Kgsago, metro police spokesman.

The special operation also focused on the illegal display of posters and illegal trading along West street.

Hundreds of illegal posters and goods from hawkers operating without valid permits and obstructing sidewalks were confiscated.

The cleaning up operations will carry on unabated in Kempton Park CBD until a complete compliance of the city’s by-laws is realised.
