Business owner arrested for fake permit

"The designated liquor officer had confiscated the man's liquor as he did not have a permit for selling liquor."

A 46-year-old man was arrested on May 11 for possession of a fraudulent liquor permit.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the suspect went to the Tembisa Police Station to collect the liquor that was confiscated during April in Winnie Mandela.

“The designated liquor officer had confiscated the man’s liquor as he did not have a permit for selling liquor,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

“On May 11 he came with a permit which he insisted belonged to him. The officer made an inquiry about the licence with the Liquor Board. It was found that the permit was issued to somebody in Xubeni Section.

“When the police officer asked him how he got the permit to be in his name, he failed to give a satisfactory answer,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

He said the man was immediately arrested and detained in the police cells.

“He will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
