Event raises awareness of social ills

SAPS hosts crime awareness campaign at Winnie Mandela.

The Tembisa SAPS hosted a crime awareness campaign on Saturday at the Winnie Mandela Library.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the stakeholders included community safety forums, Ekurhuleni Social Development, Ekurhuleni probation officers, community policing forums, the Tembisa Youth Desk choir, Metro Police and Correctional Services.

“The campaign was to bring awareness to the community about the social ills that are being committed in the area,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

“Due to the rain, the stakeholders went to Phumlani Mall where they met with shoppers and warned them about crime trends.”

Pamphlets on safety tips, domestic violence and drugs abuse were distributed to the community.
