Three men rescued after being trapped under concrete
The men were demolishing a structure when the incident happened
THREE contract workers had been rescued on Sunday afternoon after being trapped under heavy concrete slabs at a site in Elandsfontein.
Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services’s rescue team worked diligently to rescue the men after a call had been received shortly after 3pm.
According to William Ntladi, emergency services spokesman, the trapped patients sustained multiple compact fractures and were in critical condition. Two others had minor injuries.

The men were demolishing a structure when the incident happened. Three of them were trapped under a concrete slab and the other two were on top when the incident happened.
“It only took less than two hours to rescue all three patients from the rubble. Passionate and strong-minded rescue team members used various heavy duty rescue tools to recover all three patients.
Pre-hospital medical treatment was given to all five of them before being transported to Rose Acres Hospital for further medical treatment.
