Police launch manhunt for alleged baby killer

He disappeared in September last year while his trial was at an advanced stage

THE police have launched a countrywide manhunt for a man who disappeared while on trial for killing an infant.

Shaughn Patric Bruckmann absconded bail at Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court last year while he was on trial for murder. Anyone with information may contact the investigating officer, W/Officer Bruce van der Schyff, on 082-651-7769 or Crime Stop at 08600 1011 at all hours.

The fugitive was granted bail of R5 000 after he was arrested in 2010 for the murder of an infant who was only a few months old. Since then he had been appearing in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court until he absconded bail in September 2015. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by the court.

At the time of his disappearance, criminal proceedings were at an advanced stage. The investigating officer has been trying to locate him since then without any success. It is believed that he is still in the country.
