Hijacked truck with R1,4-million load found in Clayville

In-depth investigations are underway to locate the stolen goods as well as the persons involved in the hijacking

AN articulated truck drawing two trailers loaded with Amka products was hijacked on Thursday afternoon, at around 3pm, along the N14 freeway.

The EMPD Loss Control Unit, Olifantsfontein SAPS members and company officials were able to locate the hijacked truck at Clayville, in Olifantsfontein.

The vehicle, belonging to a company in Vanderbijlpark, had two trailers fully-laden with hair products worth R1.4-million, according to the owners.

The truck was found abandoned on Spanner Road, opposite the Spar warehouse in Clayville, Lieut Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said.

Contact with the truck was lost on Thursday, at around 3.30pm. It is suspected that the tracking unit was removed between 3pm and 3.30pm.

A chance sighting was made of the truck in Clayville. When law enforcers arrived, 36 pallets of hair products were already gone.

In-depth investigations are underway to locate the stolen goods as well as the persons involved in the hijacking.
