Mr ADT teaches Blouborsie about safety
The show focuses on equipping the kids with safety skills
MR ADT from ADT security company visited Blouborsie Nursery School in Birchleigh on May 19 to teach the children about safety in the home and out on the streets.
The show, called the Baddies and Buddies, focuses on equipping the kids with safety skills such as what to do when a “baddie” enters your home and which numbers to call for help.
The short one-man play is hosted by Johannesburg entertainer, Darrin “Mr ADT” McDowall, which gives it a fun and exciting twist for little kids to enjoy.
The children screamed and shouted with joy while learning about bullying, home robberies, keeping their belongings safe, being alert at all times by paying attention to their surroundings, how to get help from police and how to use the panic button.
McDowall also spoke about personal safety, including not putting pills or anything in children’s mouths without asking their parents first, dangers in the kitchen, electricity safety, not touching or pulling plugs, not playing with fire, matches, lighters or candles, the danger of playing with guns and knives, how to behave around dogs and home invasion.
His friends André and the Kung Fu bear helped spread the message in a way that the children could understand and enjoy.
“We want the children to be comfortable and know what to do in a situation where they are in danger or need to help a family member of friend and not be afraid and helpless,” said McDowall.
