Police recover decomposed body

The police received a tip-off about the body of the unknown African man lying inside the pipe.

The Olifantsfontein SAPS found the body of an unknown man inside a sewage pipe next to Erwart on May 20.

According to the Olifanstfontein SAPS communications officer, Constable Mokete Serakwana, the police received a tip-off about the body of the unknown African man lying inside the pipe.

“The sector vehicle was dispatched to the scene at Erwart. On arrival, the complainant pointed out the body of the man, who is between the age of 35 to 45. Paramedics were called to the scene and the man was certified as dead,” said Const Serakwana.

Const Serakwana said the body was decomposing.

“We are appealing to anyone with a family member who is missing to come forward,” said Const Serakwana.
