The community came out in numbers to support the passengers

Their mother, Mercy Ndhlovu, was assisted by Emer-G-Med paramedics on Tom Jones Street on Tuesday. She did not realise she was carrying twins.

At the time of the birth, paramedics jokingly said she should call the boys Tom and Jones, which she did. Tom died while Jones is doing well.

Benoni City Times reported that Ndhlovu and the other 22 passengers were travelling to Malawi but the bus repeatedly broke down during the trip, which started in Randburg. Their bus driver also disappeared in the meantime.

The community came out in numbers to support the passengers during their ordeal. People brought food, baby products and helped to organise new transport for the group.
