The Our Ladies Women’s Club celebrated 30 years of existence on May 21.
The club, founded in 1986 by Ms Francinah Lefufane, hosted its anniversary event at the Kgosafa Guest House in Birchleigh North.
“We are a burial society. When we started, we were about 50 members. Today we have 27 members. Some of our members left due to financial problems and some died over the years,” said the club’s chairperson, Ms Debra Khasake.
She said they are still going strong despite the setbacks.
“We are united as a family. 30 years is a long time. Some societies fail along the way but we are still here. We are honoured,” she said.
Ms Khasake thanked her deputy chair, Ms Ruth Makhongela, for working closely with her in making the event possible.
“I thank all the members as well for their cooperation.”
