Four men arrested for business robbery

The five men allegedly robbed a foreign owned spaza shop in Ivory Park.

The Ivory Park SAPS arrested four of five suspects aged between 28 and 42 years after they had allegedly committed a business robbery.

The five men allegedly entered one of the foreign national spaza shops in Ivory Park, Extension 2 on Tuesday evening and threatened the employees with firearms and took an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime.

“They allegedly fled the scene in a Toyota quantum. The driver of the Quantum was arrested yesterday in the early hours of the morning at Kanana Informal Settlement next to Rabie Ridge. Another suspect was arrested in Ivory Park, Extension 2 and the other two accomplices were caught in Alexandra,” said by the Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela.

W/O Sekgobela added one of the suspects who was arrested in Ivory Park, Extension 2, bought a Toyota Corolla yesterday before the arrest was made.

“The vehicle was taken to Van Ryn Deep for further investigation this morning. The suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery,” W/O Sekgobela said.
