The campaign was organised by the Ekurhuleni metro, in partnership with Isizo La Bantwana, an organisation for abused children

CHILDREN from crèches around Ekurhuleni handed over a memorandum to the city’s mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele on Wednesday morning as part of a Children’s Rights Awareness Campaign.

Last week was Child Protection Week.

The campaign was organised by the Ekurhuleni metro, in partnership with Isizo La Bantwana, an organisation for abused children.

Toddlers from Little Star Edu-Care Centre on Voortrekker road attended the event held in Germiston before the handover, where they partook in various activities including practical emergency call exercises, a run-down of what their rights are.

Psychologists, mobile clinics, SAPS, disaster management as well as the child welfare were present to teach children about their rights and what to do in case of an emergency.
