Successful joint police operation

Two roadblocks and stop-and-searches were conducted in the Norkem Park policing area

AN Ekurhuleni North cluster joint operation was held on Friday, June 3, by members of Kempton Park SAPS, the Benoni flying squad, members from VIS Benoni and members of the Norkem Park police.

Norkem Park SAPS spokesman Capt Lesibana Molokomme said during the operation, three road traffic fines were given out and six drinking in public fines valued at R3 300, while 121 people were searched, 40 cars were tested, and 82 motor vehicles were searched.

“The operation started at about 7:45am with a parade at the Norkem park SAPS station led by acting station commander Lt Col Tsoute.

“In the first hour of the operation, members conducted a road block at the entrance of Lydia Street, Birchleigh North and then moved to Piet my Vrou Street, Birch Acres,” explained Molokomme.

Molokomme said the operation ended at 4pm.

“During patrols Norkem park detectives managed to arrest three suspects for assault and theft and one for possession of dagga weighing 1.80g.”
