Man caught with friend’s ‘hijacked’ car

The owner will face a charge of perjury

A man nearly landed himself in hot water when he borrowed his friend’s car, not knowing it had been reported hijacked.

On June 6, Const Velecia Saba of Sebenza SAPS and his crew pulled over a man in a white Volkswagen Polo on the P91.

After they had pulled over the vehicle they found it had been listed as hijacked in February last year.

When the man was interrogated he said the car belonged to his friend, who had opened a hijacking case last year as the bank was about to repossess the vehicle.

The man who borrowed the car was let go and the owner of the vehicle was arrested for perjury.
